Stefano Tamborrino – Seacup (Releasdate: 09.04.2021)
Stefano Tamborrino will release his new album “Seacup” for Tǔk Music on april 4th.
The album is the debut for the Paolo Fresu label of a project which was presented for the first time at Time in Jazz in 2018.
Seacup is the synthesis of an inner sea. In spite of being in a container it maintains its liquid and unpredictable nature. Even though the Tuscan drummer is leader and co-leader of several projects this is the first album under his own name. In order to tell his own self Tamborrino has picked an unusual line up:
Ilaria Lanzoni on violin, Katia Moling on viola, Dan Kinzelman on saxophone, Andrea Beninati on cello and Gabriele Evangelista on double bass.
The music, all original and composed specifically with this line up in mind, crosses various genres ranging from jazz to contemporary classical music, from electronic to folk through chamber music to which the nature of string instruments inevitably leads. It is a project born from the leader’s urgency to express himself, which defies classification. Attention to sound and an extraordinary ability to keep the repertoire under a coherent vision are the threads which allow the musicians to continuosly change music scenario, always sharing the primary target, between the lines of a sonic architecture which eludes the strictness of dogmas and virtuosity.
The artwork is by Noumeda Carbone, a Paris born, italian artist. Noumeda works in fields as diverse as fashion, street art, illustration, drawing, painting and sculpture.
