Das neue Projekt von MAT „In Front Of“ wird von Tuk Music digital, auf CD und auf gelbem Vinyl veröffentlicht – mittlerweile eine Tradition des Labels Farbe ins Spiel der Vinylausgaben zu bringen.
„In Front Of“ ist eine Geschichte, die aus acht Kapiteln zusammengesetzt wird, bei der jeder Musiker – Marcello Allulli (Saxophon), Francesco Diodati (Gitarre) und Ermanno Baron (Schlagzeug) – zugleich Autor, Interpret und Arrangeur ist.
Das Album ist die Synthese eines sich ständig verändernden Gedankens, der MAT zu einer Band gemacht hat, in der jedes Mitglied ein aktiver und mitdenkender Teil jedes Details ist: Es ist das Ergebnis der Erforschung von 3 Menschen, die das Bedürfnis haben, sich ständig musikalisch zu hinterfragen und gemeinsam an dem Geheimnis zu arbeiten, das Musik und Kunst mit sich bringt. Alle Tracks wurden live und unbearbeitet im Cicaleto Studio aufgenommen und entstammen in Form und Inhalt der spontanen Performance der Band.
Der Sound des Trios als Ganzes ist der rote Faden, durch den man die musikalische Geschichte aus bewegenden Balladen, dichten Rhythmen und traumhaften Abstraktionen verfolgen kann:
„In Front Of“ ist das von Baron komponierte Titelstück; „River, Brothers“ und „Song for Migrants“ stammen von Diodati, Ornette, Perché und „Edele“ ist von Allulli komponiert. „Impro River“, die letzte Nummer des Albums, ist eine frei improvisierte Komposition.
Es ist auch eine künstlerische Co-Produktion, die durch die Begegnung mit Bankeri, dem Autor des Cover-Artworks – King Kong R’n’R aus der „Panem et Circenses-Serie“ von 2016 und Stardust aus der „Supenova-Serie 2017“ – entstanden ist. Bankeri (1978) hat einen Abschluss in Bühnenbild an der Accademia di Belle Arti in Rom und ist seit mehr als 15 Jahren in der italienischen Kunstszene aktiv. Er hat an zahlreichen persönlichen und kollektiven Ausstellungen in Galerien, Museen, Residenzen und multidisziplinären Projekten teilgenommen. Im Laufe der Jahre hat sein Werk verschiedene Techniken und Träger durchlaufen: Wände, Leinwände, Fotodrucke, Installationen und Performances.

Ein vollkommenes gegenseitiges Vertrauen, das sich in Konzerten voller emotionaler Spannung niederschlägt, in denen sich rasante Geräuschpeitschen mit lyrischen Momenten abwechseln, Chöre aus gewundenen Melodien sich mit komplexen rhythmischen Fugen überlagern. MAT ist ein Sound-Jet mit extremer Dynamik, der bis zur letzten Note in Spannung bleibt.
Das Trio wurde 2007 gegründet und zeichnete sich schon bald durch seine tiefgreifende und skrupellose Auslotung des Klangkosmos aus, bei der akustische und elektronische Klänge unauflöslich miteinander verschmolzen werden. Andererseits spricht der Weg von Marcello Allulli, Ermanno Baron und Francesco Diodati eine deutliche Sprache: eine Ausbildung, die in Konservatorien, Seminaren und Workshops für Jazz und klassische Musik begann und sich zwischen häufigen informellen Sessions, künstlerischen Residenzen, Reisen und Konzerten in der ganzen Welt entwickelt.

In front of is the new project by MAT to be released by Tuk Music, on digital, cd and yellow vinyl as per the label coloured vinyl tradition.
It is a tale made of 8 chapters where each musician, Marcello Allulli on sax, Francesco Diodati on guitar and Ermanno Baron on drums, is author, performer and arranger.
If Diodati is not new to the label (he is in releases by Ponticelli, Partipilo, Clorofilla and in the brandnew Heroes with Paolo Fresu) both Allulli and Baron make their debut in the Tuk Music roster.
The album is a synthesis of an ever changing thought which has brought MAT to be a band in which each member is an active and thinking part of every detail: it is the result of the research of 3 people who feel the need to constantly put themselves musically under discussion and to work together on the mystery that music and art bring with them.
All the tracks have been recorded live with no editing in the main room of the Cicaleto Studio Recording and come from the spontaneous performance of the band in its form and content.
The sound of the trio as a whole is the thread through which to follow the musical tale made of moving ballads, tight rhythms and dreamlike abstractions:
In front of is the title track composed by Baron; River, Brothers and Song for Migrants are by Diodati, Ornette, Perché and Edele are composed by Allulli. Impro River, the last number of the album, is a free improvised compostion.
An artistic production that is keen also on visual art through the meeting with Bankeri, the author of the cover artwork – King Kong R’n’R of the Panem et Circenses series of 2016 and Stardust from the Supenova series 2017 – this last piece has been used in the booklet. Bankeri (1978) has a degree in Stage design at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome and has been active in the Italian art’s scene for more than 15 years. He has participated in several exhibitions, both personal and collective, in galleries, museums, residences and multidisciplinary projects. Through the years his work has crossed different tecniques and supports: walls, canvasses, photo prints, installations and performances.

A complete reciprocal trust that translates into concerts full of emotional tension in which rapid noise lashes alternate with lyrical moments, choirs of sinuous melodies overlap with complex rhythmic joints. MAT is a sound jet with extreme dynamics that keep you in suspense until the last note.
The trio was born in 2007 and soon stands out for its profound and unscrupulous research in which acoustic and electronic sounds are indissolubly merged. On the other hand, the path of Marcello Allulli, Ermanno Baron and Francesco Diodati speaks clearly: an education started in conservatories, seminars and workshops of jazz and classical music that develops between frequent informal sessions, artistic residencies, travels and concerts all over the world.
Born in 2007, the trio has recorded 3 albums (Hermanos, MAT, Musgo Y Luna), in which they meet musicians of the caliber of Fabrizio Bosso, Antonello Salis, Glauco Venier, Javier Moreno Sanchez.
In 2021 In front of has been released on Tuk Music. The cover is a collaboration with Italian artist Bankeri: King Kong R’n’R.
