\ndes Projektes Moving People.<\/p>\n

Riccardo Del Fra war knapp neun Jahre lang Chet Bakers Bassist, spielte aber auch unter anderem mit Johnny Griffin,
\nBob Brookmeyer, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Barney Wilsen, Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler und Lee Konitz. Nach
\ndem Erfolg seines letzten Albums \u00c2\u201eMy Chet My Song\u00c2\u201c, kehrt Riccardo Del Fra mit einem Album zur\u00c3\u00bcck, das mit
\nbeeindruckenden und packenden Kompositionen aufwartet. F\u00c3\u00bcr deren Umsetzung hat er eine Reihe inspirierter und
\nversierter Solisten um sich versammelt, die grenzenloses Musikverst\u00c3\u00a4ndnis eint. Unterschiedliche Generationen und
\netliche Nationen sind in Del Fras derzeitiger Band vertreten.<\/p>\n

Aus Amerika stammen der \u00c3\u00bcberragende Gitarrist Kurt Rosenwinkel mit seinem inspirierenden Spiel und Drummer
\nJason Brown, dessen kraftvolle Grooves geradezu ansteckende Energien aufweisen. Feuer liefert der deutsche
\nSaxofonist Jan Prax. Ausdrucksstark und freisinnig schm\u00c3\u00bcckt der polnische Trompeter Tomasz Dabrowski seinen Platz
\nneben dem poetisch und subtil klingenden franz\u00c3\u00b6sischen Saxofonisten R\u00c3\u00a9mi Fox aus. Der Pianist Carl-Henri Morisset
\nklingt in seinem Tastenspiel derweil geheimnisvoll-erfinderisch.

Riccardo Del Fras Musik bewegt und nimmt an die Hand. Sein Kontrabass singt gef\u00c3\u00bchlsbetont, umarmt sinnlich und

01. Moving People (Riccardo Del Fra)
\nMenschen, die alles hinter sich lassen, um \u00c3\u00bcberleben zu k\u00c3\u00b6nnen, hoffen, irgendwo ein neues Leben zu finden.
\nDie fesselnde, kleine Melodie am Anfang des St\u00c3\u00bcckes, entwickelt sich langsam zu einem F\u00c3\u00bcnf-Schl\u00c3\u00a4ge-Muster, das
\nmittels schrittweisem Aufbau und Wiederholung allgegenw\u00c3\u00a4rtig wird. Die Melodie wird von Interludien voller
\nfarbenpr\u00c3\u00a4chtiger Harmonien und energetisch-rhythmischer Muster bereichert.<\/p>\n

02. Ressac (Riccardo Del Fra)
\nEs geht um die Bewegung des Meeres, wenn es seine Wellen an Str\u00c3\u00a4nde sp\u00c3\u00bclt. Das franz\u00c3\u00b6sische Wort \u00c2\u201eRessac\u00c2\u201c liest
\nsich r\u00c3\u00bcckw\u00c3\u00a4rts \u00c2\u201eCasser\u00c2\u201c, was \u00c2\u201ezerbrechen\u00c2\u201c bedeutet. Dieses St\u00c3\u00bcck wurde nicht von Postkarten aus den
\nSommerferien inspiriert. Viel mehr geht es um die gebrochenen Herzen, die das schreckliche Bild eines leblosen
\nKindes am Strand sehen. Drei Solisten bestimmen diese Mini-Suite: Ein freier und herzensbrechender Trompeter.
\nDann singt, in einem ruhigeren Moment, der Kontrabass ein sanftes Lied. Im letzten Teil bilden neue Harmonien die
\nLeinwand f\u00c3\u00bcr Piano-Improvisationen, bevor das Hauptthema modifiziert und gestrafft erneut einsetzt.<\/p>\n

03. The Sea Behind (Riccardo Del Fra)
\nEin explizit zu verstehender Titel. Die See liegt hinter einem, vor einem liegen Zweifel und Hoffnung.
\nKurt Rosenwinkels Gitarre und R\u00c3\u00a9mi Fox\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Sopransaxofon teilen sich in beinahe singender Form die Melodie. Ihre Soli
\nverschmelzen zu einer leuchtenden Einheit.<\/p>\n

04. Children Walking (Through A Minefield) (Riccardo Del Fra)
\nKinder, Minen, Krieg. Das St\u00c3\u00bcck wurde so entworfen wie die Musik zu einem imagin\u00c3\u00a4ren Zeichentrickfilm, in dem
\nKinder \u00c3\u00bcber ein Feld toben, reden und schreien. Pl\u00c3\u00b6tzlich gibt es eine Explosion. Das (kleine) Zitat des dritten Satzes
\nder 6. Symphonie Beethovens steht hier um das Bild Europas wachzurufen, \u00c3\u00bcber dem ein gro\u00c3\u0178es Fragezeichen h\u00c3\u00a4ngt.<\/p>\n

05. Around The Fire (Riccardo Del Fra)
\nBrennendes Holz und Furcht ist hier das Image. Es ist tiefe Nacht und die einzigen leuchtenden Lichter sind das Rot
\ndes Feuers und das Wei\u00c3\u0178 der Augen.<\/p>\n

06. Ephemeral Refractions (Riccardo Del Fra)
\nEs geht um optische Effekte, die in Musik \u00c3\u00bcbersetzt werden. Aber es ist auch eine Metapher f\u00c3\u00bcr die verg\u00c3\u00a4ngliche und
\nsich \u00c3\u00a4ndernde Betrachtung eines Objekts, sei es real oder nur in der Vorstellung existent. Und auch eine Metapher
\nf\u00c3\u00bcr Gef\u00c3\u00bchle die sich \u00c3\u00a4ndern, wenn sie durch die Augen eines Anderen gesehen werden.<\/p>\n

07. Wind On An Open Book II (Riccardo Del Fra)
\nEin sanfter, aber best\u00c3\u00a4ndiger Wind schl\u00c3\u00a4gt die Seiten eines offenen Buchs um. Die bereits gelesenen Seiten tauchen
\npl\u00c3\u00b6tzlich wieder vor den Augen auf, aber sie erscheinen jetzt anders, neu, weil die folgenden Seiten uns schon neue
\nInformationen brachten. Der zweite Teil des Themas erscheint als umgewandelte Melodie, mit einem neuen Tempo,
\ndas von seiner rhythmischen Entsprechung stammt und Raum f\u00c3\u00bcr den symbiotischen Austausch zwischen
\nRosenwinkels Gitarre und Prax\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Sopransaxophon schafft.<\/p>\n

\nEin expliziter Titel f\u00c3\u00bcr ein freudiges und sprudelndes St\u00c3\u00bcck, das laut und jubelnd, voller Bilder und konstantem

Riccardo Del Fra <\/strong>has been Chet Baker’s bassist for nearly 9 years, but has also played with Johnny Griffin, Bob Brookmeyer, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Barney Wilen, Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, Lee Konitz …<\/p>\n

After the success of “My Chet My Song”, Riccardo is back with an album of striking and penetrating compositions. for which he surrounded himself with refined improvisers without boundaries. Several generations and different countries are represented : the Americans Kurt Rosenwinkel, exceptional guitarist by the wonderfully inspired playing, and Jason Brown, drummer with powerful groove and contagious energy; the fiery German saxophonist Jan Prax; the expressive and libertarian\u00c2\u00a0Polish\u00c2\u00a0trumpeter Tomasz Dabrowski; the French R\u00c3\u00a9mi Fox, subtle and poetic saxophonist, and Carl-Henri Morisset, a pianist of rare mastery and inventiveness.<\/p>\n

“Moving People” is a lyrical album, deep, powerful and delicate at the same time that, through a demanding musical writing, but leaving large space to the improvisation, tells the journeys towards a better life, the hope and the force of life.<\/p>\n

The music of Riccardo Del Fra<\/strong> caresses and moves. His double bass sings with lyricism, embraces with sensuality and brings the soloists to incandescence.<\/p>\n

Those who leave everything behind to survive, hoping for a new life. The captivating little melody of the beginning of the theme develops slowly on a 5 beats pattern. Becoming penetrant by its repetition and its gradual evolution, the melody is enriched in the interludes by colorful harmonies and energetic rhythmic figures.<\/p>\n

This piece is not inspired by a summer holidays postcard. I speak of broken hearts thinking of the terrible image of a lifeless child on a beach. Three soloists for this mini-suite: the trumpet, free and heartbreaking; then, in a calmer moment, the double bass singing a tender chant. In the last part, new harmonies are the canvas for the piano improvisations before the main theme comes back, modified and shortened.<\/p>\n

Title also explicit. The sea, behind, and ahead, doubt and hope. The guitar of Kurt Rosenwinkel and R\u00c3\u00a9mi Fox’ soprano sax share the melody in a lyrical way. Their solos fuse into a luminous unity.<\/p>\n

4. Children Walking <\/strong>(Through A Minefield) <\/strong>(R. Del Fra) 4\u00e2\u20ac\u212237<\/strong><\/p>\n

Children, mines, war. I conceived this piece as if it were the music for an imaginary cartoon film, where children play games in a field, talking and screaming. Suddenly, an explosion. Here we could guess the soldiers marching and their shouts, there the chase and the gunshots. The (short) quote from Beethoven (3rd movement of the 6th Symphony) is here to evoke an image of Europe with a big question mark.<\/p>\n

Burning wood, but also the fear. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s deep night and the only lights glowing are the red of the fire and the white of the eyes.<\/p>\n

It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s about optical effects (which I tried to “translate” into music) but also a metaphor for the ephemeral and changing perception of an object, real or imagined; a metaphor for the feeling that can change through the prism of the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Other”.<\/p>\n

7. Wind On An Open Book II <\/strong>(Riccardo Del Fra) 5\u00e2\u20ac\u212226<\/strong><\/p>\n

A gentle but steady wind turns the pages of an open book. The pages already read are back in front of our eyes but now\u00c2\u00a0 they appear different, as new, because meanwhile we had new information from the following ones.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 The second part of the theme comes with a transformed melody, on a new tempo generated by a rhythmic equivalence, offering space for symbiotic exchanges between Kurt\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s guitar and Jan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s soprano sax.<\/p>\n
