Wir arbeiteten wie besessen und beendeten die Aufnahmen innerhalb eines Tages, daher passt der Name DAY TRIP ziemlich gut. Abgesehen davon ist dies eine \u00c2\u00b4Trip`- Band, sie nimmt dich auf eine Reise mit<\/em>.&#8221; <!--more-->Die &#8220;Day-Trip-Session&#8221; wurde im Oktober 2005 in den Right Track Studios in Manhattan aufgenommen und im Fr\u00c3\u00bchjahr 2007 zu einem 10-Titel-Set zusammengestellt. Die Ver\u00c3\u00b6ffentlichung f\u00c3\u00a4llt mit einigen Live-Dates in den USA zusammen. Derzeit tourt das Trio in S\u00c3\u00bcdafrika und hat im letzten Herbst bereits einige gefeierte Gigs an Unis und Colleges in den U.S.A. gespielt. Die Rezensionen zu diesen Shows \u00c3\u00bcberschlugen sich mit Superlativen. So schrieb die Buffalo News: <em>\u00e2\u20ac\u017eMetheny teilt seine musikalische Seele mit zwei der besten Musiker ihrer Generation<\/em>.&#8221; Die Times Union Of Albany erg\u00c3\u00a4nzt: \u00e2\u20ac\u017e<em>Christian McBride am Kontrabass und Antonio Sanchez am Schlagzeug verschmolzen mit Metheny\u00c2\u00b4s Musik [&#8230;] und spielten mit telepathischer Virtuosit\u00c3\u00a4t<\/em>.&#8221; Und das Louisville Courier Journal beschrieb die abendliche Leistung des Trios folgenderma\u00c3\u0178en: \u00e2\u20ac\u017e<em>Es war eine gemeinschaftliche Tour de Force, die Standing Ovations verdient hat<\/em>.&#8221;<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">\u00e2\u20ac\u017e<em>Christian ist ein gro\u00c3\u0178artiger Musiker und Antonio ist DER Schlagzeuger seiner Generation<\/em>,&#8221; sagt Metheny. Der 35-j\u00c3\u00a4hrige Bassist McBride spielte u.a. mit Roy Hargrove und Freddie Hubbard, bevor er seine eigene Band gr\u00c3\u00bcndete; der 36-j\u00c3\u00a4hrige Schlagzeuger Sanchez ist Mitglied der Pat Metheny Group.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">Auf <strong>DAY TRIP<\/strong> bietet Pat Metheny viele packende Soli und ein eher entspannter Groove dominiert das neue Album. McBride nennt es einen \u00e2\u20ac\u017eweichen, eher traditionellen Sound.&#8221; Vielleicht sticht in dem Zusammenhang besonders der elegische Song \u00e2\u20ac\u017e<strong>Is This America? (Katrina 2005)<\/strong>&#8221; mit seiner folkigen Melodief\u00c3\u00bchrung heraus.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">2007 war ein besonderes Jahr f\u00c3\u00bcr Metheny. Er ver\u00c3\u00b6ffentlichte ein weiteres Album seiner bahnbrechenden Sessions mit dem Pianisten Brad Mehldau, Metheny Mehldau Quartet, und lie\u00c3\u0178 die Tr\u00c3\u00a4ume seiner Fans weltweit wahr werden, als er mit Mehldau, dem Bassisten Larry Grenadier und dem Schlagzeuger Jeff Ballard auf Tour ging. Au\u00c3\u0178erdem ver\u00c3\u00b6ffentlichte er eine neu gemasterte 2-CD Version seines 1992 mit einem GRAMMY ausgezeichneten Albums &#8220;Secret Story&#8221;.
