Michel Reis, Marc Demuth und Paul Wiltgen<\/strong> geh\u00c3\u00b6ren schon seit Jahren zu den Ausnahmetalenten der Luxemburger Jazzszene. REIS DEMUTH WILTGEN spielt seit 1998 zusammen, anf\u00c3\u00a4nglich erst in Luxemburg und dessen Umgebung. Nach einer kurzen Pause findet das Trio 2011 wieder zusammen und ver\u00c3\u00b6ffentlicht sein Deb\u00c3\u00bct-Album bei Laborie Jazz in 2013, welches von der internationalen Presse hoch gelobt wird. “Einfach grandios!” schreibt das JAZZPODIUM. Ausgezeichnet als “Export Artist of the Year<\/strong>” geht die Band ab 2013 weltweit auf Tournee und spielt, au\u00c3\u0178er in Europa, auch in den USA, Kanada, S\u00c3\u00bcdamerika, Russland, Japan, S\u00c3\u00bcd-Korea und China.<\/p>\n Nach der Ver\u00c3\u00b6ffentlichung von \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Places In Between\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (Double Moon Records), beginnt REIS DEMUTH WILTGEN 2016<\/strong> eine wichtige Kollaboration mit dem international bekannten Jazz Saxophonisten Joshua Redman<\/strong>. Redman wurde durch deren Eigenkompositionen auf das Luxemburger Pianotrio aufmerksam und hat erstmals einige ihrer St\u00c3\u00bccke in sein eigenes Repertoire aufgenommen. Dies f\u00c3\u00bchrte zu mehreren Tourneen des Trios mit Joshua Redman als \u00e2\u20ac\u0153featured guest\u00e2\u20ac\u009d und zu einem gemeinsamen Projekt mit dem Luxemburger Symphonie Orchester unter der Leitung des Star Arrangeurs Vince Mendoza<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Das dritte Album des Trios tr\u00c3\u00a4gt den Titel \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Once In A Blue Moon\u00e2\u20ac\u009d und erschien im Mai 2018 bei dem italienischen Label CAM JAZZ.<\/p>\n SLY<\/strong> (auch bei CAM JAZZ) pflegt die Tradition des Klaviertrios. Aufmerksamkeit wecken und dennoch komplett auf Effekte, Tricks und Muskelspiele verzichten. Auch heute k\u00c3\u00b6nnen Pianotrios Geschichten erz\u00c3\u00a4hlen, die ohne Worte fesseln und ber\u00c3\u00bchren. Drei Ausnahmetalente an ihren Instrumenten suchten und fanden im Laufe der Jahre die Zwischenr\u00c3\u00a4ume neben den zahlreichen Klischees und Traditionen. Dort bewegen sich eing\u00c3\u00a4ngige Themen, ansteckender Groove und vielschichtige Rhythmen wie in einem Mobile. Das Album besteht g\u00c3\u00a4nzlich aus neuen Kompositionen und best\u00c3\u00a4tigt die starke k\u00c3\u00bcnstlerische Identit\u00c3\u00a4t des Trios in der heutigen Musikszene.<\/p>\n Als Musiker ist man st\u00c3\u00a4ndig in der Welt unterwegs, auf der Suche nach neuen Herausforderungen und innovativen Ideen. Mit SLY<\/strong> versucht das Trio auch das Auseinandersetzen mit seinen Wurzeln, seiner Herkunft, und deren Wichtigkeit innerhalb des kreativen Prozesses, in den Mittelpunkt zu stellen. Der Fuchs ist Protagonist in der Fabel \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Renert<\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u009d von Michel Rodange<\/strong>, eine Adaption von Goethes Reineke Fuchs, und eines der wichtigsten literarischen Werke in luxemburgischer Sprache. They formed the REIS DEMUTH WILTGEN Trio<\/strong> in 1998 while still in high school and performed on a regular basis in and around Luxembourg for a couple of years. The trio reunited in 2011 eager to share their experiences and new music. Their self-titled first album was released on Laborie Jazz to widespread critical acclaim. Since the release, the band has toured extensively throughout the world and has appeared at major international jazz festivals in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Western Africa. The band’s sophomore album “Places In Between<\/em>” was recorded in New York City and released on Double Moon Records in 2016. The trio is now signed to the Italian label CAM JAZZ for whom they have recorded two albums: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Once In A Blue Moon<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (2018) and their upcoming album “SLY<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n In 2016, the trio started collaborating with world-renowned saxophonist Joshua Redman. Redman says that he fell in love with their music from the moment he heard them when his own quartet was playing a double bill with REIS DEMUTH WILTGEN at a festival in France. He has been playing several of the trio’s compositions with his own bands. In March 2018, the trio toured in Europe with Joshua Redman<\/strong> as a featured guest.<\/p>\n This tour included a performance at the Philharmonie Luxembourg featuring the music of REIS DEMUTH WILTGEN<\/strong> arranged for the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg by multiple Grammy Award winning composer and conductor Vince Mendoza<\/strong>.<\/p>\n SLY is REIS DEMUTH WILTGEN\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s<\/strong> fourth release. Sticking with the known acoustic piano trio format, the album features new works exclusively and captures the trio\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s current musical identity and the strong voice it has developed among piano trios in recent years.<\/p>\n When musicians experience displacement, their views broaden, their ways diversify, their personalities grow, their ideas change and, as artists, their sense of ownership of what they might consider home, intensifies. The trio\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Luxembourgish heritage is precious to them and they recognize the importance of being aware of one\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s roots in the context of making and creating music. The music of SLY<\/strong> is by no means traditional to Luxembourg, but this album represents an homage of sorts to REIS DEMUTH WILTGEN<\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s home, an acknowledgement of their upbringing, an appreciation of the where and the what from which they came. Their home base merely provides a foundation upon which they can venture out to build new experiences and thus create an honest and sincere, yet innovative sound.<\/p>\n The fox on the cover represents their strong ties to Luxembourg. One of the most notable literary works in Luxembourg\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s national language, Luxembourgish, is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Renert\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (full title: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Renert oder de Fuu\u00c3\u0178 am Frack an a Ma’nsgr\u00c3\u00ab\u00c3\u0178t\u00e2\u20ac\u009d – “Renert or the fox in a tailcoat and in human size”) by Michel Rodange<\/strong>, published in 1872. An epic satirical work, adapted from the 1858 Cotta Edition of Goethe’s fox epic Reineke Fuchs to a setting in Luxembourg.<\/p>\n It is known for its insightful analysis of the unique characteristics of the people of Luxembourg, using regional and sub-regional dialects to depict the fox and his companions.
